Jubilee Beacon
Event Date : 4/6/2012
There will be a Diamond Jubilee Beacon near Watchlaw Farm on the evening of Monday 4 June. The Beacon is part of a national chain of beacons to be lit. One thousand of these are being coordinated by RABI, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute, of which HM The Queen is Patron. The Ford & Etal Beacon will be one of these. It will be situated near Watchlaw Farm, signposted off the B6353 between Ford and Barmoor.
Lighting-up time will be at 22.01 precisely, the time that all RABI beacons are being lit. However, everyone is welcome to come to the site from about 8.30pm onwards to enjoy a short circular walk of approx. 1 mile, past the small plantation which the Estates have dedicated to the Jubilee and an earlier plantation (2008) established to commemorate the purchase of Ford & Etal by the 1st Lord Joicey.
Refreshments will be on offer, and there will be a collection bucket for RABI. Although - surely - it will be a lovely evening, please bring a jersey or coat in case an evening chill sets in.
